Cataract Falls on Ice

We took a short field trip to Cataract Falls Saturday to see what the falls looked like after two weeks of freezing temperatures. The falls did not disappoint! The water flow was low but we still saw a lot of movement around and under the ice. A few spots of ice showed some color – I am not sure if that is due to minerals in water or some tourists with artificial colorants running around on the ice. This was Laci and Avery’s first trip to see the falls in any type of weather. We got them off to a good start.

Historical Footnote: When I was very young the covered bridge was part of the main road to this park. Now it is a pedestrian bridge and the main road is just on the other side from the view in the 3rd image.
