When Did Coffee Become The Drink Of The Elites?

“It is inhumane, in my opinion, to force people who have a genuine medical need for coffee to wait in line behind people who apparently view it as some kind of recreational activity.”
Dave Barry

I do not drink coffee – never have. But all of my daughters do drink coffee and will occasionally go out to places that specialize in coffee. Those places offer all sorts of flavor variations including one store that offered ‘coffee flavored coffee.’ I am sure they have patrons who have never tasted that flavor. Of course, all of this comes at a price. The accumulated money that they have paid for coffee at those places of business could have paid for their educations at an Ivy League school. And they would have had enough left over to buy a can of instant coffee to make their own!

  1. Dave Barry is ultimately quotable, but nothing is more accurate than this quote. I really disliked standing behind people with decision-making disorders at Starbucks, when we still spent money there. It was agonizing and sometimes even infuriating…
