Our last time in China was January 2007. We had just completed Laci’s adoption there – the last of five. I captured this bridge while visiting a park in Hefei during that trip. It was an overcast and misty day that gave the picture a very soft look. I use this image in a screensaver gallery. Sometimes I look and it reminds me of those trips. Not only did we bring home five daughters over those years but we got a good picture of how much different the world is outside the U.S. There were tremendous sights to see both old new. A very historic China and a new China growing at a very quick pace. We also have the memories of shepherds tending goats in the barren desert of northwest China and farmers in straw hats hunched over manually working the rice paddies near the South China Sea. The contrasts are stark. I do not want to forget those differences.
