I took these pictures in July 2005. They show the tip of Mt. Fuji peaking through the clouds. It may not look exactly like the pictures of Mt. Fuji that you see in the Japan travel magazines or on the covers of National Geographic, but these pictures culminated a quest to revisit the shot that got away. It all started four years earlier.

Our adoption trip for Jenna was over and it was time to go back home with our new daughter. On November 21, 2001, we sat out on a Japan Air Lines flight from Hong Kong’s Chek Lap Kok Airport to the Narita Airport in Tokyo. Clear skies and bright sunlight accompanied us the entire way.
