The ship moving beneath the Mackinac Bridge is the Edgar B. Speer, one of the largest Great Lakes ore freighters. We saw this ship in June 2015. I found an old album from 1995 with pictures of an ore freighter going through the Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Looking closely I found that it was the same Edgar B. Speer! So for this week’s challenge – ‘which way’ is the same way only twenty years apart!
The Edgar B. Speer is 1004 feet long and 105 feet wide. I did not have my wide-angle lens with me on the 1995 trip so I had to split it into two images. Today I could have just used the panorama setting. It is a very long ship.
