Route 66 – Railroad Bridge

We got to explore a bit of Historic Route 66 this past weekend in central Missouri. I did some research before we left for Missouri but we did come across some surprise spots too. One of them was this railroad bridge near the 1926 strip of highway at Devil’s Elbow, Missouri. As I drove along the stone wall I just caught a glimpse of the steel trestle bridges down in the Big Piney River Valley. I stopped and grabbed some images, then came back later with some of the kids to get some more looks! In addition to the two steel sections this bridge also had wooden trestles at either end. This scene almost looks artificial under the cloudy sky. I would like to come back and see this with the Autumn leaves!
