Another Batch of Thistles

I got to spend about an hour at Sodalis Nature Park over the weekend. I came across a patch of several varieties of thistle. Such a shame that these are weeds. These flowers would look nice in someone’s flower bed. Here is a sampling of what I ran across during the visit!

  1. I find the texture and color of thistles so fascinating. I recently learned that one variety of thistle, the teasel, was used historically in the manufacture of wool cloth. It made me happy to learn that it was not always considered a noxious weed!

  2. You are right. It’s such a pity that so many so called weeds are more or less banned from the garden. Everybody loves the sunlit meadow, but nobody is brave enough to have one in front of their house,.
