Lounging at the Beach

Taking a day off from flower-watching to post a few shots of the seagulls I saw at the beach earlier this year. This is at Sylvan Beach in LaPorte, Texas.

The channel that flows between the beach and the island across the way joins the Gulf of Mexico to several oil refineries and ports in the area. There is a lot of ocean-going traffic passing this way.

  1. I love the Ring-billed Gull. There are increasingly strong suspicions that they have/will soon breed this side of the Atlantic as they are a fairly regular visitor. Still a bird that attracts a crowd, though!
