Back during Spring Break 2007 we drove down through the Deep South. One of our last stops was at one of my favorite places to visit: Charleston, South Carolina. On this particular day we visited Patriot’s Point and toured through the USS Yorktown (CV-10) aircraft carrier. It’s predecessor, CV-5, was lost at the Battle of Midway in 1941. CV-10 is the fourth ship to bear the name Yorktown. It served from 1943 to 1947 and again from 1953 to 1970. The ship is now a very interesting museum. We took the self-guided tour that day which, on a ship that big, is a workout!
