Free-For-All on the Milkweeds

A few milkweed beetles and a plethora of late-stage milkweed beetle nymphs compete for seeds from a freshly opened milkweed. These bugs are common around here and feed on the seeds of several plants including, of course, the milkweed.

  1. I haven’t seen milkweeds in years here in Northern Virginia!

    These photos bring back memories of my happy childhood, when I used to have a lot to time to explore the fields around our house. Bac then, Northern Virginia was so rural. Idyllic!
