Although they are long gone now, we had a nice selection of lilies this year in the flower beds. While Charlotte and I sat out in the front earlier in the Summer, I took these shots from ground level. The lavender lilies have touches of blue and yellow – much less brash than the bright tiger lilies.

I got these captures late in the afternoon on the east side of the house in the shadows. It was still bright, but the sun was already on the other side of the house. The color did not wash out so much as they would in the direct light. Plus (added tip for good photography) it was much cooler in the shade and made it easier to be comfortable.
