Bridge at McCloud Nature Park

A restored steel truss bridge serves as part of the pathway from one side of the Big Walnut Creek to the other side at McCloud Nature Park. The bridge, built in 1913, had spanned the Monon Ditch in Pulaski County, Indiana, until its dismemberment in 2006. The Hendricks County Parks Board had the bridge restored for relocation at the park. The bridge and a concrete walkway stand on four large piers across the creek. The new location opened up in 2009.

This bridge is the only crossing of the creek, but the creek is shallow enough to wade across. There is a trail that goes along the creek underneath the bridge that we will try out on our next visit. The park has about six miles of trail presently through some prairie areas and through the woods. We will visit again soon for some more exploration later this year.
