Scarab Beetle

Yet another beetle that I had not seen in a long time has shown up in our flowers – namely a Green June Beetle who, like so many others before, has landed in our phlox. Even though the Egyptians revered these beetles over three thousand years ago, homeowners do not gladly welcome them into their gardens. I would guess that we do not see these beetles around much since many of the homeowners in the area de-grub their yards killing the beetle’s larvae.

    1. I agree – this is a classy looking bug. Apparently, these were included in some sort of religious ceremonies in ancient Egypt. There is a lot of artwork from that time with images of these beetles.
