Sweet William in Profile

Today’s object is the tiny Sweet William flower. These little flowers come in many colors with a lot of little details. Originally from southern Europe and parts of Asia, these flowers show up in a lot of gardens. These shots show some of that detail and color mix in profile shots from ground level.

This first shot is a white flower with purple highlights. Deep blue pollen powder covers the anthers of this flower. The second shot shows petals of plum outlined in magenta with a deep red interior marking. The pollen on these anthers is a lighter shade of blue. As we see time and time again, a close-up look reveals details that the casual observer might never see. The richness of nature is a sight to behold!
